Biography

I’m a writer, freelance film development executive and script consultant. I specialise in international co-productions, I help with content development and assess projects on their potential against local and international markets and audience trends. I speak and I’m able to work in several European languages.

I was a script analyst for Universal Pictures and Focus Features for eight years, where I reported to VP of International production after she struck a deal with Cattleya Films in Rome, helping it carve its place as the true European powerhouse that it is today. I looked after Universal/Focus Features’ Italian slate until 2019.

I have an M.A. in Film Screenwriting (distinction) and a BA/Hons in Drama/Theatre Studies, from Royal Holloway, University of London. I attended the Feature Film Workshop at the National Film and Television School, and my TV series was selected for the Curtis Brown inaugural ‘Write an Original TV Drama Series’ with Colin Teevan (Das Boot, Rebellion, Resistance), which I’ve just completed.

My feature screenplay ‘Lily and Her Sisters’ – a true story set in Northern Italy and Mauthausen, during WWII – won a David Lean Screenwriting Award. The judges (executives from Film4, BFI, and literary agents) were impressed with the script, explaining that ‘it portrayed a truly cinematic vision, written with depth and warmth of character.’

‘Do U Eat Meat?’ won the Best Short Screenplay Award at the Los Angeles Comedy Festival.

I’ve directed three short films. ’Another Thing’ won the Kodak Award, and the Italian Film Editors’ Association Award at the Arcipelago International Film Festival in Rome. It was also in competition at the Salento International Film Festival, at the Seattle 1Reel Film Festival (Women in Film) – organised by the Seattle International Film Festival – at the HDFEST in New York, as well as at the Canterbury Film Festival in New Zealand.

‘OLGA?’ stars Amelia Warner, and Rula Lenska. The film – loosely based on Alberto Moravia’s short story Il Paradiso – was in the official selection at the Arcipelago International Film Festival in Rome, and at the Sguardi Altrove International Film Festival in Milan.
The script for ‘OLGA? was in the judge’s selection at the Las Vegas Short Script Competition, and was shortlisted at the Golden Brad Awards in LA.

My collaboration with musician Rakafeed produced the stunning underwater music video ‘Colder’. It was filmed at Pinewood Underwater stage, and starred ballet dancer Matthew Koon. The 5’ piece won the Golden Reel Award for Best Music Video at the Tiburon International Film Festival in San Francisco, and was awarded an Honorable Mention at the Los Angeles Movie Awards. It was also in the official selection for Best European music video at the ECU European Film Festival in Paris. It travelled to the International Festival of Music Videos in Barcelona, and at the Kabelvag Kunsfilmfestival in Norway.
